Getting around to some details...

I am cutting and installing the sound insulation on the inside of the engine cowling. Hopefully we'll be able to communicate without shouting over the noise of the diesel while motoring!

Our first sail is finally delivered!

We bend on the main for the first time. It is an exciting and long-awaited event! The sailmaker also brought the lapper and staysail. The genoa remains under construction.

Now we need lazyjacks.

An excellent opportunity to learn some marlinspike skills, we set about designing and building a set of lazyjacks. Using black 3-strand line, we made eye splices, some with nylon thimbles, others soft, and rigged them up to hang from the top diamondstay tangs. We may modify them slightly at the aft end of the boom, but they work! Thanks to the excellent splicing lesson given us by Steve at the Alameda West Marine, our splices turned out very well.

First Time Under Sail!
This trip to the top I remembered the camera! Thought you might enjoy the view too.

We are researching the source for our bow nets. The hardtop is back in Sacramento having its stainless steel support built by some talented welding students.
