This is the final layout of the steps and build-up of the new transom. The seams are taped and I'm ready for the fiberglass sheathing.

You can see the opening for the quadrant arm and the pintles for the rudder.

We also softened and curved the sterndeck overhangs to blend into the extension.

Primed and ready for final paint, the new transom updates the hull shape and adds additional function. The steps will be great for exiting and entering the dinghy, but not good for getting out of the water when swimming- they are too high. We may consider a couple of flat SS steps on the rudder itself with a handle up high to grab.

We've temporarily hung the rudder to mark where the quadrant arm will be bolted.
